Poems for you! Reviews for Ganthrea! Shazam!
Good evening, friends! (and good midnight for friends in South Africa!)
I hope you are doing as well as can be. We celebrated our twin's birthday (6) this month, did a lot of walks around the neighborhood, and painted whatever was within reach (house trim, mailbox, kitchen island, the sky with stars).
And my wife was kind enough to let me go wander some nature trails last weekend, which made for good inspiration for Book 2. ("What would it be like if Brenner... falls off a log... into a waterfall?! Let's do some market research!")
It was fun, except the part where I gallivanted too fast down a cliff trail, slipped on the crumbly rocks, and gashed my ankle nicely. But did it stop me from rope-swinging by the waterfall? You bet your sweet lassie it didn't!
And now, some thank you's are in order. A huge thank you to everyone who supported me in the book launch last month. I actually sold more physical books than eBooks, which I wasn't expecting. Ganthrea has come alive because of you. I hope you survived the near-death experiences (and real death experiences for some characters) of the story, and enjoyed the acrobatics of Agilis and Zabrani. Some people even got Rick-Rolled at the end of the eBook. And I'm not sorry about that. :)
Another huge thank you goes out to those four brave souls who read the book and wrote a review on Amazon. Every time you write a review for "Games of Ganthrea" on Amazon, a spellcaster gets a new mircon, a knight captures a glowbe, and an angel gets its wings. Yes, I've seen it happen.
"And what do I get?" you ask? You get the greatest gift of all: the sound of a child's laughter. Tee-hee! AND you get a poem written about you. That's right. A real, everlasting poem. Shakespeare once said, "What's worth more gold than where the buffalo roam? A loaf of bread, a bottle of wine, and your very own poem." Things you can do with your poem: recite it to the grocery store clerk while wearing a face-mask, tell it to your coworkers on a conference call, have it chiseled into stone and cemented above your front door. Choice is yours! (This offer is good for the next ten reviews, or the next Olympic Games, whatever comes first.)
Thank you in advance. Not sure what to say? Here's a mad-libs formula: I loved Games of Ganthrea because the characters made me feel (positive emotion), the action kept me (intense verb), and the magic Olympic games made me happier than (cool noun). I definitely (action verb) this (adjective) review myself! (Plot device) was the (uplifting superlative adjective). (Interjection), man!

Good news! My book is now being carried by the local Bend bookstore, Dudley's Bookshop Cafe. And I have an upcoming author event (virtual) at a Middle School in California. Yeah, I'm kind of a big deal now. "You speak at Middle Schools?!" That's right. You heard it here first. Well, read it here first. But you should imagine me talking to you.
If you want me to talk with your high school or middle school students (virtual for now) about story writing, world building, rope-swing jumping, general zaniness and secrets of life, please drop me a line on the contact form here.
And I bought a fancy microphone, so I suppose that means I should work on the audiobook now. :) People have asked me when the movie is coming out. Well, I sent a package to Steven Spielberg last week, so the ball's in his court. Hopefully the intern gives it to him, amidst the thousands of others. But only mine has a Toblerone for him (or the intern) in it. I probably shouldn't hold my breath on that. #GanthreaforSpielberg
Your reviews on Amazon are dandy, so help out your friend Andy.
Unless you're the type of person who doesn't like poems,
in which case you should stay safe and stay home.
But if you're home anywho,
just write a short review.
5 stars. Liked it. Adieu.
If you got this far, you should also know I put a video on the site.
When done with your review, there's your other reward.
It's hidden... under 'Videos.'
